Family and Community Support

Our primary provision is being enhanced by ensuring that positive home-school relationships are established at the earliest opportunity. The education of a child is more effective where there is alignment between parenting and schooling and we seek to ensure that families are well supported to carry out their essential part in this journey.

Our early family support and education provision are central to this work - equipping parents and carers with the skills and knowledge they need to support their child's education and personal development. We will strengthen this, ensuring that all academies have a consistent core as well as a locally tailored, needs-driven offer which enables the home-school relationships to flourish.

All of our Primary Academies deliver Family Links Nurturing Groups and hold regular coffee mornings for parents and carers to get to know the school team and meet other agencies who work in the community. If you are a partner agency who would like to make links with your local Outwood Primary Academy, get in touch with us by contacting c.jackson@outwood.com.

Our schools at the heart of the community and the community in our hearts

Our Vision:

We are always working towards our vision which is segmented into the five strands below.

Our Family and Community Support Strategy continues to put children first by bringing families and communities together. If you have any feedback on how we can improve, please let us know.

    • Supporting children and families throughout their transition out of school to secondary, post-16 and post-18.

    • To broaden children's horizons and foster critical thinking by cultivating a love of reading with books that offer diverse experiences, challenge their beliefs, and develop their reading confidence and skills.

    • To curate a central bank of high-quality resources designed to support families in their home environment.

    • To empower parents and carers to confidently support their child's holistic achievement throughout their school life.

    • To provide guidance and support for parents/carers as they explore work, volunteering, and training options.

    • Working with parents and carers to secure their child's basic needs.

    • To strengthen the emotional health and well-being of children and families.

    • Focusing on early intervention to support the physical health of children and families.

    • Nurturing the mental health of parents.

    • Investing in early intervention to build a foundation for children's strong mental health.

    • To support parents and carers of children with SEND to navigate the landscape.

    • Establish a solid foundation of trust and communication with parents and carers that can endure challenges and disagreements.

    • To increase opportunities for parents to engage with support services at the earliest point a child's need is identified, to begin to build the relationship between home and those services.

    • To implement systems that allow parents and carers to get their voices heard in the school.

    • Ensure parents/carers receive accurate and timely information delivered with sensitivity.

    • To support parents and carers in creating pathways to education by removing any barriers their child may face.

    • Supporting children and families throughout their transition into school.

    • Increase the school's visibility and engagement within the community to build trust and confidence.

    • Empowering parents and carers with opportunities to strengthen their Maths and English skills.

    • Empowering children's emotional development through increased parental knowledge and awareness.

    • To provide evidence based programmes for parents and carers that nurture the parent/child relationship.

    • To empower children to make informed and responsible choices about their behaviour within the community.

    • To support children's speech and language by empowering parents and carers with strategies to use at home.

    • To strengthen the support networks available for families facing vulnerabilities, improving their access to assistance.

    • We are committed to keeping contextual safeguarding central to our practice and proactively informing parents and carers about it.

Where are our Hubs?

The map below shows all of our Primary Academy locations. Those pinned in yellow are Hub sites which deliver an enhanced provision, however, the teams at all of our schools can signpost you to community partners if you need further support.
