A Kirkby-in-Ashfield secondary school is starting a new life after joining one of the leading families of schools in the country.

On Friday 15th July, fifteen students across year 11 and 12, and two teachers left the Potovens Lane-based academy to embark on the 7,000-mile journey to Borneo.

The Outwood Family is once again celebrating the success of its students, who overcame two of the most challenging years the education sector has faced by showing an inspirational amount of resilience.

Kristian Johnson, a journalist from the BBC, spent the morning with Outwood Post 16 Centre Worksop students as they received their A-Level results.

An impressive 26% of Outwood Family Year 13 students achieved an A* or A grade, while 77% of students achieved an A* to C grade.

Students who will be starting at Outwood Academy Hemsworth have been spending time at the school this week, ahead of entering Year 7 in September. The week-long summer school ran from Monday 1st to Friday 5th August and it is the second year the activity has been delivered.

Outwood Academy Shafton have been awarded the prestigious Association for Physical Education (afPE) Quality Mark with Distinction, for demonstrating outstanding commitment to improvement in Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity.

Outwood Academy Shafton has been recognised for its outstanding careers work this week. The school has been awarded the national Quality in Careers Standard awarded under licence by Ixion (Part of the Shaw Trust Group).

On Friday 15th July, Outwood Primary Academy Alne held a special community day to remember and celebrate the life of their governor and school disco DJ, Dennis Myers.
